Indonesia is a food paradise and is also famous for local spices. From high-end restaurants to bustling street vendors, Indonesian food will make you drool. Now let’s share some Indonesian delicacies.

Fried duck

Like the delicious fried chicken in Indonesia, this is a kind of fried duck. Except for the difference between duck meat and chicken, there is no difference. They are usually very small, but I believe you will not trade a delicious duckling for a fat duck with a bad taste. The roast duck I ate in Jakarta was very greasy and salty. If I said it was not delicious, it was totally deceptive. The duck was fried very crisply, from skin to meat. It was accompanied by various herbs such as lemon basil, and chili sauce. It was better to have a bowl of rice, perfect.

Fried catfish

Deep fried catfish is a very famous Indonesian street snack, which can be generally eaten in street restaurants and local food tents. In Jakarta, if you walk around the street at night, you will see catfish on countless stalls. The production of catfish is very simple, just add some salt, sometimes sprinkle some coriander and turmeric powder, and then deep fry until crisp. The catfish I ate in Indonesia was very small, about the size of sausage, and they were hard fried. Take a crisp catfish with rice and dip it in some chili sauce. This is a delicious dish.

Fried Crispy Fish

There is also a common way to make different kinds of fish and seafood in Indonesia. There are hundreds of different kinds of fish that can be used to make fried crispy fish. Sometimes the fish will be changed into knives and then fried in a pan. Indonesian fried fish and rice with chili sauce are absolutely a delicious meal, or a seafood meal.

Jakarta beef soup

Jakarta is the largest city in Indonesia. People living in Jakarta come from the most remote areas and islands in Indonesia. The food also directly reflects this. Walking on the street, you will find a restaurant with Padang cuisine, Manado cuisine and snacks in the east of Java. However, one of the most famous dishes is Jakarta beef soup, which is famous for its local food. However, this soup has different practices in every region of Indonesia. Jakarta beef soup is mainly made of beef, boiled with lemongrass, Indonesian bay leaf and other herbs, and then seasoned with medlar, galangal, garlic and green onions. Finally, fresh milk and coconut juice are added to make the soup creamy. The soup is put in a bowl with some crisp fried onions, rice and some Indonesian pickles. You can’t miss this dish.

Mutton Leg Soup

This Indonesian dish is especially suitable for meat lovers, especially mutton lovers. Walking into a restaurant that makes mutton leg soup, there are several goats just skinned hanging on the rafters of the tent in the restaurant. The mutton is slowly cut into pieces and will be put at the door of the restaurant after being cooked. When eating barbecue, you can slowly choose the parts of mutton you want to eat, which are basically prepared in advance. When we went, we chose goat feet, eye sockets and goat brains. First, put different goat ingredients into a bowl, and then pour a thin layer of cream and butter soup into the bowl.

Ox tail soup

Another Indonesian soup is oxtail soup. Contrary to the two creamy soups mentioned above, oxtail soup is a clear soup. Oxtail, carrots and potatoes are stewed together. The broth has a salty taste and a slight pepper taste. Like other Indonesian soups, it can be served with a plate of rice and some seasonings, as well as fresh cut peppers and Indonesian sweet soy sauce.

Indonesian meatballs(Bakso)

This is one of the most popular street snacks. Of course, it is also available in restaurants. Almost everyone here likes it. Indonesian meatballs have two flavors to choose from, one is Chinese style, and the other is local Indonesian flavor. Both flavors are very delicious. Indonesian meatballs are usually mixed with minced meat and starch, which will make the meatballs elastic. In the company that eats meatballs, you can choose your favorite noodles and meatballs to eat together. This is a mild Indonesian dish, but you can also add pepper and other condiments to the bowl yourself.
